The historic Church of Madonna delle Grazie is a hidden gem in the picturesque village of Semproniano, at the start of the road leading to Saturnia in Tuscany. Built in the 16th century on the site of an ancient hermitage, this church exudes a quiet charm and an aura of serenity.
Main entrance: an architraved portal with a rose window opens onto a rectangular interior, characterised by a trussed roof, entirely rebuilt in the 18th century. This simple yet charming structure offers a glimpse into the region’s past and artistic heritage.
The interior of the church houses two altars, each featuring an artistic masterpiece. On the first, a Madonna and Child, a work from 1788 by Elisabetta Anna Taverni, stands out, whilst on the second, a Saint Anthony of Padua facing the Madonna and Child, attributed to Francesco Nasini, takes centre stage.
