The church of Cellena, a hamlet of Semproniano, located near the ancient dwellings of the village, is situated in a flat position offering a panoramic view of the Fiora valley. Its construction, completed in 1958 thanks to ministerial contributions and donations from the faithful, culminated on October 4 of the same year with a solemn consecration.
This religious building, in a romantic modern style, is distinguished by its facade, which features a modern-style pronaos and an eye adorned with mosaics. The interior of the church, which covers an area of about 146 square meters, features a Latin cross plan with two small chapels dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesusù and St. Anthony of Padua.
The interior of the church is embellished with selected and precious marbles, enhanced by mosaics. In addition, twelve historiated stained-glass windows create a particularly striking atmosphere.
The church’s interior is decorated with precious marble.
The bell tower, made of terracotta, houses two bells cast in 1958. Adjacent to the church is the rectory and other buildings. Opposite the church and buildings, a large park owned by the parish stretches up the hill.

The astylar cross you can admire , made by sculptor Andrea Trisciuzzi è the’only existing copy. The ’original è was blessed by Pope, St. John Paul II, on the occasion of the Jubilee of 2000 and brought to the South Pole as a gesture “prophetic”, by Bishop Liberio ANDREATTA on the occasion of the mass celebrated on January 20, 2003, after that, the first attempt on December 25, 2001, failedì due to adverse weather conditions.
The Cross, in’ year 2003, è was donated to the people of Cellena by Bishop ANDREATTA and è was kept in the ASBUC Committee Headquarters in Cellena .
