Church of Santissima Annunziata

Church of Santissima Annunziata

The Church of Santissima Annunziata in Cellena, a hamlet of Semproniano, is located near the ancient dwellings of the village, on flat ground offering a panoramic view of the Fiora valley. Its construction, completed in 1958 thanks to ministerial contributions and donations from the faithful, culminated on 4 October of the same year with a solemn consecration.

This religious building, with its romantic modern style, stands out for its façade, characterised by a modern-style pronaos and an eye adorned with mosaics. The interior of the church, which covers an area of approximately 146 square metres, has a Latin cross plan with two small chapels dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and St. Anthony of Padua.

The interior of the church is embellished with selected precious marbles and enriched with mosaics. In addition, twelve stained glass windows create a particularly evocative atmosphere.

The bell tower, made of terracotta, houses two bells cast in 1958. Adjacent to the church is the rectory and other buildings. Opposite the church and buildings, a large parish park extends over the hill.
