Lucignano

Immersing yourself in the romantic village of Lucignano is like taking a plunge into the past. The narrow, winding streets, perfectly preserved medieval walls and stone houses create an enchanted atmosphere that will make you feel as if you have stepped back in time.

Once you enter the village walls, you will be greeted by the picturesque alleys adorned with colorful flowers and surrounded by historic buildings. Walking through the alleys, you will discover authentic hidden corners that tell the thousand-year history of Lucignano.

One of the most iconic symbols of this village is the "Golden Tree," also known as the Tree of Love or the Tree of Life, a precious work of art made of gold and precious stones. Kept in a glass case, this tree is displayed in the center of the Municipal Museum and is one of Lucignano's most fascinating and curious attractions, around which a legend has flourished.

The panoramic view from the top of the town hall tower is simply breathtaking. From here you can admire the undulating landscape of the Tuscan hills, dotted with olive groves and vineyards stretching to the horizon.

What to see in Lucignano
This charming medieval village offers a myriad of attractions that will leave you breathless. Begin your visit by heading to the historic center. Remarkable treasures are revealed as you walk through the narrow streets leading up to Piazza del Tribunale, where the famous Golden Tree is preserved inside the Municipal Museum.

In Piazza del Tribunale there are three buildings that will impress you: the Church of San Francesco, the Collegiate Church of San Michele Arcangelo and the Palazzo Comunale, which houses a museum.

Lucignano's events
Lucignano is a place that offers much more than just historical and architectural beauty. The village is also known for its vibrant cultural life, characterized by a series of events that take place throughout the year.

One of the most anticipated events is undoubtedly the Stump Fair, which takes place every December on the Sunday before Christmas. During this traditional festival, the streets of the town come alive with colorful stalls where local artisans display their products. It is a unique opportunity to soak in the Christmas atmosphere and taste local delicacies.

On the occasion of Valentine's Day, Signs of Love has been held since 2022. This is an event that combines the enhancement of the area and love for gastronomic traditions. In fact, local restaurateurs prepare a dinner dedicated to the theme. At the center of the event is the large shrine in the form of a Tree, its charm and the local legend created around it: that of bringing good luck to lovers who exchange love promises in front of its branches.

To welcome spring, on the last two Sundays of May, the Maggiolata takes place in Lucignano. Event par excellence that manages to see the commitment and active participation of the population.

Among the most celebrated historical re-enactments in Tuscany, in Lucignano in September you can take part in Memories of the Past. This is a historical-folkloric event that re-enacts scenes of daily life from the late 1800s or early 1900s.

In short, Lucignano is an absolute must-see village during a trip to Tuscany.
