This door so called because it was closed in the 16th century, at the time of the war of Siena and reopened, after a long and laborious restoration, only at the end of the last century.
A typical example of medieval military building, the door shows the signs of a paving of medieval origin composed of cobblestones in pietra serena and limestone.
