Ready? Here’s the tour at the Fleckner in Racines
The Fleckner (2,331 m) is considered one of the most beautiful ski mountaineering tours in the Racines area. From gently sloping terrain, it provides excellent conditions for skiing, with generally very low avalanche risk. Particularly impressive is also the view once you reach the summit, since by resting your gaze to the south you can see the entire Passeiertal valley with Meran.
Here is a brief summary:
- Orientation: north
- Degree of difficulty: moderate
- Ascent time: 2.5 hours
- Height difference: 831m
The tour starts at the Racines valley floor, in the hamlet of Vallettina. Parking opportunities are located right next to the road, and it is there, at the starting point (at an elevation of 1500m), that large information boards are displayed to provide a detailed overview of the trail and information about wildlife protection areas. The safest way to cross the part of the tour that leads through the forest without much difficulty is to follow the forest path without shortcuts until just below the tree line.
Climbing step by step, you will soon reach the open terrain called “Klinglermähder” at an elevation of about 1,800 m. Once you reach the Klinglermähder, you have before you the wonderful alpine pasture land up to the ridge. Finally, you have to keep left to the summit, whose summit cross appears rather late. The view from the summit is extraordinary: the Ötztal and Zillertal Alps as well as the Passo Giovo and the Val Passiria present themselves in all their splendor-and it is once more clear: Effort must be rewarded. And, of course it’s still due for maximum downhill fun, finally returning to the starting point.
