Lake Iseo holds hidden corners of extraordinary beauty, often compared in majesty and enchantment to exotic places like Thailand. One of these treasures is Bogn Bay, a place that looks like something out of a postcard from the Philippines. Located between Riva di Solto and Castro, this bay offers a breathtaking panorama of sheer rocks plunging into the emerald green waters of the lake. To explore this piece of paradise, you can take a scenic tour that starts from the small town of Riva di Solto. Let's find out how.
Riva di Solto is a picturesque village overlooking the western shore of Lake Iseo. This small town is an ideal starting point for exploring the lake and its natural beauty. The Bogn gorge is one of the main attractions of Riva di Solto, a real naturalistic jewel that enchants visitors with its breathtaking views.
Here, the trail begins near the "Trentapassi" campsite along Provincial Road 77. Immediately you take an old mule track marked as CAI path 567 that leads to Solto Collina. After about fifteen minutes of walking, at Zangolo, turn right, ignoring the signs indicating the path to the Panchina Gigante.
The climb, although challenging, pays off with the Church of Saints Rocco and Antonio Abate and then with breathtaking views of Lake Iseo, Monte Isola and Corna Trentapassi. You ride along alternating paved sections and grassy paths, crossing landscapes that combine the quietness of meadows with the dense shadows of forests. When you reach a junction with the paved road of Via Apostoli, you turn right and reach the Bogn Discovery Trail.

A visit to Bogn Bay is a unique experience. This hidden corner of the lake does not have any real beaches, but offers small patches of land where you can stop and swim. The rocky bottom requires the use of flip-flops and a little care. Alternatively, the bay can be reached by boat or kayak, allowing you to admire the extraordinary slabs of rock emerging from the water.
Once at the entrance to the Bogn Discovery Trail, the path winds up steep terrain, but any effort is rewarded by the stunning views of the gorge below. The views are breathtaking and include spectacular overhanging rocks that are hard to remain indifferent to. Proceeding along the old track of the lake road built in 1910, one enters a small tunnel from which there is a unique view of the Bogn.
This area is also famous for its brave divers who jump into the clear waters of the lake directly from the rocks. Continuing along the trail, there is a small beach from which a steep trail (trail 565) leads to incredible views. This trail, also known as "The Overview," allows you to skirt the Bogn Gorge and return to the village.
For those who decide to take this scenic journey, it is advisable to park near the "Trentapassi" campground or along Via Papa Giovanni XXIII in Riva di Solto.
