Sant’Elia is the smallest and most romantic of the Sicilian maritime villages. A hamlet of the municipality of Santa Flavia, the village of Sant’Elia is a twenty-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of the city, an enchanting place with small beaches, soft lights, fishermen’s boats and romantic aperitifs not to be missed under the moon. Initially founded as a fishing village dependent on an ancient tuna fishery, the town is largely located on a promontory overlooking the sea, founded around the 17th century. Sant’Elia is overlooked by Solunto and all its history, and is also surrounded by the fascinating promontory of Capo Zafferano. The village is crossed by the sea and, on the mainland, there is a small slope, topped by a cross, that offers a truly splendid panorama. What makes the landscape even more evocative is a small white house surrounded by the sea, with a classic sloping roof, that seems to have been drawn by a child’s imagination.
