The Church of Crowned and Blessed Virgin Mary of Sabbioneta, in Lombardy, was built between 1586 and 1588. Octagonal in plan view on the ruins of the church of San Niccolò, made to demolish by duke Vespasiano Gonzaga. The interior decorations (1770 approximately) are the work of students of the school of Antonio Galli from Bibbiena.
To its inside, in the chapel to the left of the main altar is placed the funeral monument in polychrome marbles of Vespasiano Gonzaga made inside the 1592 by the sculptor Giovan Battista della Porta, on which is dominated by the bronze statue of the duke. In 1988 was opened the tomb to carry out a survey on the mortal remains of the leader at the end of which were placed in an environment which is adjacent to the church.
