The Basilica of San Leone of the village of Aidone, in Sicily, dates back to 1090. It was dedicated to Pope Leo II, and was built with megalithic ashlars, coming from the area of the Citadel. The church suffered serious damage due to the earthquake of 1693. Is there to be admired in the external architecture, the portal of the baroque style, formed by a round arch, flanked by two half-columns with capitals Corinthian style, on which rests an architrave with reliefs; in correspondence of the capitals there are two small cornices with two cones in relief.
