The Abbey of St. Nicholas, located in the historic center of Montesarchio, was built between the 12th and 13th centuries, although it has been remodeled several times over the centuries. Internally, it has two naves and preserves several remains of the original Romanesque structure, such as the arch preceding the presbytery; it is also possible to admire a valuable high altar in polychrome marble, above which is a large painting of fine workmanship.
