Montecorone

Montecorone

One of the most charming and well preserved hamlets of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. The ochre bell tower stands on the mountain, surrounded by houses and looks out over the valley below. At one time, the castle belonging to the Contrari family stood here. Montecorone is also nature. The small valley where the village stands, is dominated by the imposing rock face of the Sasso di S. Andrea. Nearby you can also find the Bosco delle Tane, with several caves and a very interesting canyon. Along the provincial road that leads to Zocca, Zocchetta is worth a trip, with its old town centre and the oratory from 1668.
