The Pieve di San Giovanni in Ottavo, also known as Pieve del Tho, is located just over a kilometer from Brisighella and is considered the oldest church in the Lamone Valley. Its history is rooted in the distant past, linked to the figure of Galla Placidia, daughter of Emperor Theodosius. It is said that Galla Placidia had the church erected using the remains of a temple previously dedicated to Jupiter Ammon.
Although the precise date of its construction is unknown, scholars speculate that the parish church arose between the 8th and 10th centuries, making it an important example of religious architecture of the period. Due to its ancient origin and historical connection to important figures of the Roman Empire, the Pieve del Tho represents a place of considerable cultural and artistic interest in the region.
