Church of Santa Lucia

Church of Santa Lucia

The Church of Santa Lucia in Percile, dating back to the 15th century, stands in the heart of the historic centre and is closely linked to Orsini Castle, with which it forms a highly charming architectural ensemble.

The interior houses works of considerable artistic and historical interest. Among these, a refined crucifix and several elegant Roman-era stones stand out, bearing witness to the site’s continuous use over time. Also of particular value are the frescoes, including the Madonna del Rosario with Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine from 1583, two 17th-century paintings dedicated to the same saints, and the work The Dream of Saint Joseph, dating from the 18th century.

Originally, the church had a single bell tower, which was replaced in 1914 by the two towers that stand today and define its silhouette. The parish church’s current appearance is the result of numerous restoration and renovation works carried out over the centuries, which have helped to preserve its historical and artistic value.
