The Collegiate Church of San Nicolò di Bari is the main place of worship in Monteprandone and represents a key landmark in the religious history of this village in the Marche region. Its origins date back to the 11th century, when there was an earlier church dedicated to San Nicolò, of which, however, no trace remains today. In 1500, the building was granted the title of collegiate church, a sign of its growing importance within the community.

As the centuries passed and the population grew, the original structure was no longer sufficient to accommodate the faithful, making the construction of a new church necessary. The current building dates back to the 19th century and retains the layout that still characterises the Collegiate Church of San Nicolò di Bari today.

The interior consists of a central nave flanked by six side altars, creating a spacious and harmonious space. The space is dominated by a large canvas situated at the centre of the nave, painted in 1846, depicting the Madonna and Child with Saint Nicholas receiving the pallium. The work, framed by a striking golden halo, is one of the most significant elements of the decorative scheme.

Of particular note are the relics of Saint Cyriacus the Martyr, dating from the 4th century AD, which are kept inside the church and are the object of deep devotion on the part of the local community.

On the outside, the church is distinguished by the large monumental portal that leads into the building, lending the façade a solemn and elegant appearance.

The Collegiate Church of San Nicolò di Bari remains to this day the spiritual heart of Monteprandone, a place where faith, history and tradition intertwine, keeping alive the link between the past and the daily life of the village.
