Church of San Pier d’Agrino in Bogliaco

Church of San Pier d’Agrino in Bogliaco

The Church of San Pier d’Agrino in Bogliaco stands out even from a distance, particularly due to its tall crenellated bell tower, which rises above the landscape and is clearly visible even from the lake. The façade is complemented by an elegant porch, whilst the interior features a three-nave layout marked by eight columns and adorned with seven altars.

The building, dating from the 16th century, underwent major restoration work which was completed in 1576. Even today, the church preserves a rich artistic heritage, including numerous paintings attributed to various artists and several works by the Venetian painter Andrea Celesti.

Among the most significant furnishings are the organ case dating from 1672, a precious 17th-century monstrance in embossed and chased silver, and a 15th-century wooden statue depicting the patron saint seated in the act of blessing.

Opposite the church of San Pier d’Agrino stands the 18th-century church of Santa Trinità, better known as the Santuario del Crocefisso, which completes this charming religious complex in the heart of Bogliaco.
