Italy boasts the title of Bel Paese because of its enormous natural heritage: in just a few kilometers, one goes from the sea to the mountains, from the hills to the plains dotted with cultivated fields. Bel Paese because its gastronomic tradition is varied, an expression of customs handed down through generations, as well as a repertoire of dishes that enrich the welcome with cordiality and authentic flavors.
Added to all this are the towns and cities, large and small, overlooking the sea or located inland, where the wealth of opportunities of all kinds make a visit stimulating and never dull or boring. Not to mention the small historic centers scattered in the most pleasant places of the boot, but equally interesting because they are characterized by a rare magic that can hardly be found elsewhere. We are talking about villages, which in recent years are at the center of a real renaissance.
Sardinia is also rich in them: this region located in the heart of the Tyrrhenian Sea, in whose cultural heritage the traces of Spanish domination are still present, is often mistakenly associated exclusively with seaside tourism, neglecting instead its inland territory rich in charm and mystery.

Ferry travel: between ease in booking and unparalleled comfort
To reach this sunny land, famous for its mysterious nuraghi, you can opt for a mini cruise aboard one of the Sardinia ferries.
The shipping companies that daily serve the most coveted and popular routes count on the service of safe and capacious ships, capable of carrying people and vehicles. A good reference point for buying a ticket is the online booking platform, which is software that allows you to manage all aspects of your trip in just a few clicks and a matter of seconds.
If Sardinia is your chosen region for your vacation, you should know that the main arrival point is Olbia. The town in the province of Sassari, on the northeastern coast of the island, is equipped with a modern port to welcome a conspicuous amount of tourists all year round; in addition, the municipality is equipped to offer high standards of hospitality, being able to count on the impeccable service of the many accommodation facilities present.
Sardinia and the typical villages of the area
The land that has given birth to such well-known figures as writer Michela Murgia and internationally renowned fashion designer Antonio Marras is a mine of surprises for those who wander in search of magical and unforgettable places. As mentioned, Sardinia is not only exclusive beaches and crystal clear sea, but also a fantastic hinterland dotted with villages and nature reserves that seem to be suspended in time.
If you have your own vehicle, as well as a rental car for the vacation period, you can opt to reach Aggius, a little gem of Gallura. Consider that this village fondly preserves the tradition of handmade embroidery on shawls and traditional clothing, masterfully carried out by the village’s most experienced women. Further north, still heading east, one cannot overlook another typical village nestled on a hill: we are talking about Posada. Its name means ‘stop,’ and, not surprisingly, its tranquility is an invitation to unplug from the daily hustle and bustle.

Proceeding inland instead, a visit to Silanus cannot be overlooked: it holds the title of authentic village of Italy because of its harmonious landscape. It has also been the focus of worldwide attention because of the high longevity index among its people. Still in the Nuoro area, it is worth discovering Oliena: this small village is also enveloped in a peaceful and quiet atmosphere, the ideal condition to appreciate a timeless tranquility and perhaps to taste some excellent carasau bread, which here is prepared according to the most ancient tradition and preserved in special wooden chests.
