Volo della Capra – The Flight of the Goat 2026

On 30 August 2026, the historic centre of Santa Fiora will once again come alive with the traditional (The Flight of the Goat) ‘Volo della Capra’, one of the most distinctive summer events on Monte Amiata, combining folklore, folk games and ancient traditions.

Every year, the event draws residents and visitors alike for a day of conviviality, during which the medieval village becomes the setting for ancient games, historical re-enactments, entertainment and the traditional flavours of the Amiata region. The streets and squares of the historic centre are filled with colour, cheer and a sense of community, offering an opportunity to rediscover customs handed down from generation to generation.
