On 25 and 26 August 2026, the magnificent village of San Leo, in the heart of the Valmarecchia, will once again be shrouded in mystery with AlchimiAlchimie, the event that every summer transforms one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages into a fascinating stage where history, art and legend merge into a unique experience. For two evenings, the ancient streets of the historic centre come alive with shows, performances and evocative sets that take visitors on a journey beyond time, inspired by the enigmatic figure of Count Cagliostro, an alchemist, healer and one of the most talked-about figures of the 18th century, who spent the final years of his life in the famous Fortress of San Leo until his death on 26 August 1795.

The entire village becomes an open-air theatre, where every square, alleyway and medieval vista helps to create an atmosphere brimming with charm and mystery. Street artists, musicians, actors and performers bring live shows to life, engaging the audience with illusions, tales, light displays and settings inspired by the world of alchemy and esotericism. Strolling amongst the ancient walls of San Leo, you find yourself immersed in an emotional journey where the boundary between reality and legend seems to dissolve, offering an experience capable of captivating visitors of all ages.

Among the most eagerly awaited events are the traditional Incendio della Fortezza, which illuminates the silhouette of the imposing castle with spectacular displays of light and fire, and the evocative Fuoco Alchemico, one of the event’s signature moments. Two spectacular shows that transform the Fortress into an even more enchanting place and help to make the nights of AlchimiAlchimie unforgettable.

During the event, visitors can explore the charming alchemical market, where stallholders and craftspeople offer stones, crystals, esoteric objects, artistic creations and products inspired by the world of magic and ancient traditions. Rounding off the experience are the food stalls, taverns and restaurants in the village, which offer the best of local cuisine, allowing visitors to discover the authentic flavours of the Valmarecchia in a convivial and charming atmosphere.
