Medieval Festival
Event description
On 12 and 13 August 2026, the picturesque village of San Giorgio Morgeto, in the heart of the Aspromonte, will once again be steeped in the atmosphere of the past with its traditional Medieval Festival, one of the most fascinating events of the Calabrian summer. For two days, the historic centre and the majestic castle are transformed into an authentic medieval village, offering visitors an immersive experience blending history, entertainment and traditions.
The ancient streets of the village will be filled with knights, ladies, soldiers, musicians, jesters, falconers and artists from all over Italy and abroad, who will bring the charm of the Middle Ages back to life with performances, travelling shows, historical re-enactments and demonstrations of ancient arts and crafts. As you stroll through the narrow streets and squares, you’ll soak up an authentic atmosphere, made all the more evocative by the imposing castle overlooking the village.
The event also offers a rich programme dedicated to traditional flavours, with food stalls where visitors can sample typical Calabrian specialities, traditional medieval dishes and local produce, accompanied by music and entertainment that liven up the evenings until late at night.
The Medieval Festival of San Giorgio Morgeto is the perfect opportunity to discover one of Calabria’s most charming villages, set against the stunning backdrop of the Aspromonte landscape. An event that successfully combines culture, entertainment, gastronomy and the celebration of historical heritage, taking visitors of all ages on an exciting journey through time.
