The ‘Dolceacqua’ in the square – Il ‘Dolceacqua’ in Piazza
Event description
On Saturday 18 July 2026, from 6.00 pm to 11.00 pm, Piazza Mauro will become the heart of Ligurian food and wine with the 5th edition of “Il Dolceacqua in Piazza”, the event dedicated to Rossese di Dolceacqua DOC, the first wine from Liguria to have been awarded the Denominazione di Origine Controllata (DOC) designation.
In the picturesque medieval village of Dolceacqua, in the province of Imperia, visitors and wine enthusiasts can enjoy an evening of culinary delights, featuring tastings, local specialities and live music, all set against the unique backdrop of the famous Doria Castle and the characteristic medieval bridge, which was also immortalised by Claude Monet.
The undisputed star of the event is Rossese di Dolceacqua DOC, the wine that symbolises the Val Nervia, grown on the terraced slopes of Liguria and prized since the Middle Ages for its elegance and character. Local wineries will guide the public on a journey of discovery through the various interpretations of this oenological gem, recounting its history, tradition and distinctive characteristics.
The tasting experience will be complemented by the finest local culinary specialities, prepared by local producers and restaurateurs, offering a perfect pairing of wine and cuisine from western Liguria. Live music will help to make the atmosphere even more engaging, transforming the historic centre into a place for socialising, conviviality and celebrating the local area.
Admission is subject to a fee and includes the official #iobevodolceacqua-branded wine glass with a handy personalised glass holder. With this kit, you can freely sample the wines offered by the participating wineries and enjoy an authentic food and wine experience amongst the squares and alleyways of one of Liguria’s most beautiful villages.
Dolceacqua in Piazza is an unmissable opportunity to get to know the Rossese di Dolceacqua DOC up close, discover the finest produce of the Riviera dei Fiori and enjoy an evening of flavours, culture and traditions in the heart of the Val Nervia.
