Stramaialata 2026
Event description
From 4 to 9 August 2026, the hamlet of Piana, in the municipality of Castiglione del Lago, will host a new edition of the Stramaialata, the traditional festival dedicated to the authentic flavours of Umbrian cuisine. Launched in 2009, the event has become one of the most eagerly awaited summer events on Lake Trasimeno, attracting thousands of visitors every year thanks to the quality of its culinary offerings and its authentic atmosphere.
The undisputed star of the event is the pig, one of the iconic products of Umbrian culinary tradition, prepared according to local recipes and using only meat sourced from local, zero-kilometre farms. The food stalls offer numerous specialities that celebrate rural culture and the flavours of yesteryear, providing an authentic food and wine experience.
Alongside the food, La Stramaialata offers a packed programme of live music, dancing, shows and entertainment every evening, creating a festive atmosphere that appeals to families, groups of friends and visitors of all ages.
One of the most distinctive features of the event is the strong involvement of the local community. The residents of Piana play an active part in organising the event, welcoming visitors with the warmth and hospitality that have always characterised the area. The experience is made even more convenient by the charming ‘Stra-navetta’, a free shuttle service that takes visitors from the car park to the festival area.
The Stramaialata is much more than just a festival: it is an opportunity to rediscover Umbrian culinary traditions, enjoy moments of conviviality and get to know the authentic spirit of the area surrounding Lake Trasimeno.
