Trout and River Prawn Festival

On 24 and 25 July 2026, the picturesque Santa Susanna Spring, in the village of Rivodutri, in the province of Rieti, will host the 24th Trout Festival and the 15th River Prawn Festival, two events dedicated to the exceptional seafood that makes this extraordinary corner of the Santa Reatina Valley so unique.

Set against the natural backdrop of the Santa Susanna Spring Nature Reserve – one of Europe’s most abundant springs – the event offers the chance to spend two evenings surrounded by nature, fine food and music, in one of Lazio’s most enchanting locations.

From 7.30 pm, the food stalls will open, where visitors can sample two full menus designed to showcase the flavours of the region.

The River Prawn Menu features panzanella with river prawns, homemade gnocchetti with prawn sauce, and river prawns served in salsa verde. The Trout Menu, prepared by the local restaurant Parco alle Noci, includes trout in oil with aromatic herbs, ‘Santa Susanna’ risotto with white trout ragù, and trout fillet served with traditional Santa Susanna bread.

The tastings will be accompanied by a packed programme of music. On Friday 24 July, the Claudia Scarciafratte orchestra will take to the stage, whilst on Saturday 25 July it will be the turn of the Bulli e Pupe orchestra, promising two evenings of live music and entertainment.

The Trout and River Prawn Festival is the perfect opportunity to visit Rivodutri and discover one of the most beautiful natural spots in the Rieti area, where culinary excellence meets the beauty of the landscape in an authentic and convivial atmosphere.
