Olive Oil and Broad Bean Festival
Event description
The Olive Oil and Broad Bean Festival is one of the most authentic and heartfelt summer events in the Gargano region, a celebration of Carpino’s authentic flavours and rural traditions. Every year, on 12 August, the village comes alive amidst picturesque alleyways, soft lighting and irresistible aromas, offering visitors a unique food and wine experience.
In the heart of the historic centre, the event pays tribute to two products that symbolise the region: extra virgin olive oil, with its intense and fragrant flavour, and the famous Carpino broad beans, recognised as a Slow Food Presidium for their quality and strong link to local tradition. Simple yet precious ingredients, capable of telling the agricultural and cultural story of this land.
During the evening, the village’s narrow streets are transformed into a culinary journey, where visitors can sample traditional dishes prepared according to recipes handed down through the generations. Broad beans, the undisputed stars of the show, are served in a variety of ways, often accompanied by local olive oil that brings out their flavour, creating a perfect blend of authenticity and tradition.
The festival is also a time for gathering and sharing: outdoor tables, glasses of wine, smiles and stories create a warm and convivial atmosphere, typical of village festivals. Live music adds to the evening’s special charm, accompanying visitors through dancing, performances and moments of entertainment under the summer sky of the Gargano.
Taking part in the Olive Oil and Broad Bean Festival means enjoying an authentic experience, where the flavours of the land intertwine with the culture and hospitality of a village that still preserves its most genuine spirit intact.
