Artisanal Weaving of Sauris
Located in the small mountain town of Sauris – Zahre, the Tessitura di Sauris is a workshop where the local textile tradition was revived in the 80s by Sandra and Adriana Schneider. This place in Friuli preserves a unique cultural and linguistic heritage, where an ancient German is still spoken.
In 2020, Cristian, together with Chiara, brought back to the past the traditional hand weaving, an art that saw the men of Sauris at the loom, while the women dealt with the processing of hemp, wool and linen.
In their workshop, located in an ancient sawmill in stone and wood, are made handmade textiles for home furnishings and clothing, using natural fibers.
Each piece produced, from shawl to carpet, from cape to blanket, is a unique work, embellished by antique designs and the particular search for color effects.
Visit the Tessitura di Sauris to discover the art of traditional manual weaving and to admire the passion and skill of these artisans in the heart of the Friulian mountain. On request, you can also commission custom items.
