Astronomical Observatory G.D. Cassini

The Astronomical Observatory is located inside the premises of the Town Hall of the village of Perinaldo, in Liguria. The observational activities and didactic activities are held in the dome in the courtyard and in premises suitable for the reception and the multimedia projections. The dome is located on the rooftop overlooking the inner courtyard and measures approximately 3 meters in diameter; to access you climb a flight of stairs up to the garret, then 4 steps in iron to climb to the telescope; in the cupola you enter in groups of 5-6 people at once. In the courtyard are the observations with the portable telescopes, both day and night, as well as the animations, during the meetings dedicated to the sun, with facilities such as the Helioscope, sundials, miniatures various. In the Council Hall are the projections to the inflatable Planetarium (waiting that is completed the installation of the fixed one), the diapositive projections and conferences. The dome is equipped of a newtonian reflector in a fixed location, with opening of 380 mm and a focal length of 1700 mm, particularly suitable to the observations of the nebulae and galaxies. For the observations of the moon and planets a reflector Schmidt-Cassegrain, with opening of 203 mm and a focal length 2030 mm, also equipped for the observation of the sun. Finally a PST in H-alfa for the observation of the Sun and its cromosfera. The educational activities, on the sun, moon, stars and planets, are held in the form of the lab with explanatory panels and photos, miniatures, simple materials, even homebuilt.
