Housed in the palazzo designed by Vignola in the second half of the 16th century, the archaeological museum contains funerary objects from the Etruscan necropolises scattered throughout the area: Vigna la Piazza, Pianezze and Centocamere. The first floor illustrates daily life through an in-depth study of the customs and traditions of the Etruscan people. On the ground floor the visitor enters the world of the afterlife: through the full-scale reproduction of a chamber tomb and the presence of a real monolithic tufa sarcophagus, an attempt has been made to help the visitor understand the funerary rituals attested at Grotte di Castro.
