Parish church of Santa Maria Assunta at Cavalese

The parish church of Santa Maria Assunta is a gothic building characterized by towering bell-tower, built in the XVII century by Giuseppe Alberti, and from the atrium with a lacunar ceiling of wood, with frescoes of the maestro Antonio Longo. The parish church is prior to 1112, but in the XV century it was rebuilt in Romanesque-gothic style and in 1610 were brought to the four primitives three naves, divided by rows of pillars of cylindrical shape and polygonal, but then a violent fire that broke out in 2003, it has destroyed the roof and the roof, has damaged the porch and has compromised the entire structure. The inevitable were the dismay and the disorientation of the inhabitants: the church of the Assumption is in fact always been considered by the inhabitants of the area a symbol of Fiemme Valley.

The Parish Church is immersed in a splendid park, enriched by trees of linden trees, and has always been at the heart of social, economic and religious heart of the Fiemme Valley. There you will find the ‘banco de la reson’ (Reason Board), where sat – as in a parliament outdoors – representatives of the Magnificent Fiemme Community.
