Savignano sul Panaro

Savignano sul Panaro is a pretty village located between the hill and the high plain. Of great historical and architectural interest is the ancient medieval village of Savignano Alto, and of great importance are the archaeological finds found in the area.

Savignano sul Panaro is a pretty medieval village located between the hill and the high plain, on the right of the Panaro river.
The hilly area between Bologna and Modena has many riches to offer to taste. This is why the Castelli Ciliegi Wine and Flavor Road was born, the first food and wine itinerary in Emilia-Romagna that allows you to make a journey to discover the most authentic flavors of these places.

The gastronomic tradition of Savignano draws its origins from the position of the border between Modena and Bologna on one side, and between mountain and plain on the other. The typical mountain products, crescentine and borlenghi, coexist with typically Modena products, such as balsamic vinegar and walnut, and Bolognese, like fresh and stuffed pasta. Today Savignano can count 11 doc wines and is renowned for the quality of its fruit and vegetable production. The municipal area is very extensive and consists of 5 hamlets: Doccia, Formica, Magazzeno, Garofano, Mulino. The gentle hills that frame the town are suggestive.

Of great historical and architectural interest is the ancient medieval village of Savignano Alto, and of considerable importance are the archaeological finds found in the area, including the skeleton of the Pliocene Elephant and the Venus of Savignano dating back to the Upper Paleolithic. The village is characterized by some sculptures by Giuseppe Graziosi, the famous sculptor from Savignano. In addition to the Lamentation inside the Parish Church, a bronze statue of the Redeemer at the family tomb and a monument to the Fallen of the First World War in the space in front of the cemetery bear his signature.
