Merlot IGT

Merlot Venezia Giulia IGT 2022 is an elegant, terroir-driven red wine that embodies all the pleasantness and smoothness typical of the Merlot grape grown in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. Produced by the Borgo delle Oche Winery, it is the result of careful vinification that enhances the aromatic profile of the grapes whilst preserving their freshness, balance and finesse.

The result is an enveloping and harmonious red, characterised by fruity aromas, soft tannins and a pleasant lingering finish that makes it extremely versatile at the table.

Vinification and Ageing

The grapes are crushed and destemmed before undergoing cold pre-fermentation maceration in stainless steel for approximately 5 days. This technique allows for the gentle extraction of aromas and colouring compounds, whilst preserving the integrity of the fruit.

This is followed by temperature-controlled fermentation, with the pomace left in contact with the must for a further 10 days and agitated exclusively through gentle pumping over.

The wine then undergoes malolactic fermentation and 6 months of ageing in stainless steel, keeping the varietal freshness of the Merlot intact.

Tasting Notes

Visually, it presents an intense ruby red colour, enhanced by violet hues.

On the nose, fragrant aromas of cherry, raspberry and ripe red berries emerge, accompanied by elegant floral nuances.

On the palate, it is soft and enveloping, with sweet tannins perfectly integrated into the structure. The palate is balanced, fresh and persistent, with a pleasant finish.
