Bay Night Swimming 2026

On Monday 3 August 2026, the picturesque Baia del Silenzio in Sestri Levante once again provides the backdrop for the 7th Bay Night Swimming, the unique open-water swimming competition that combines sport, entertainment and the charm of a race held at sunset under a starry sky. Organised by Aquamanara 1968, Shock Wave ASD and Bar Cutter Cucca, the event attracts athletes and enthusiasts every year to one of the most iconic settings on the Ligurian Riviera.

The competition follows the spectacular ‘Australian-style’ format, featuring qualifying heats and a grand final that make the event even more thrilling for both participants and spectators. The course, 300 metres long, starts from the famous Baia del Silenzio and finishes at Riva Trigoso, near the headquarters of ASD Scurpena, offering athletes a picturesque route set against the backdrop of the waters of the Gulf of Tigullio.

The qualifying heats will get underway at 7.30 pm, as the light of sunset begins to give way to evening, whilst the final, scheduled for 9.30 pm, will provide an even more thrilling spectacle. The lights reflecting off the sea, the silhouette of the illuminated village and the enthusiasm of the crowd transform Bay Night Swimming into an event that combines sporting competition with stunning scenery.
