Brusadèla Festival

📅 24 August 2026

Event description

On 24 August 2026, the village of Romagnese, in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese, will celebrate one of its most authentic culinary traditions with the Brusadèla Festival, an event that pays tribute to one of the iconic products of the local peasant cuisine.

The star of the event is the brusadèla, a distinctive sweet focaccia prepared according to an ancient traditional recipe using sugar, butter, raisins and natural flavourings. It was once baked during the grape harvest as a hearty snack for those working in the vineyards; today it is one of the most beloved specialities of the Oltrepò Pavese and a symbol of a culinary culture passed down from generation to generation.

Throughout the day, the baking ovens will fill the village streets with the aroma of freshly baked brusadèla, whilst the food stalls will offer a wide range of traditional Pavia dishes, including local cured meats, risottos, braised meats and other local specialities, accompanied by the famous wines of the Oltrepò Pavese region, such as Bonarda and Barbera.

The event will be enlivened by live music, folk dancing, craft markets and activities for children, creating a convivial atmosphere that will draw in residents and visitors alike for a day steeped in tradition.

Brusadèla Festival is the perfect opportunity to discover Romagnese and its culinary specialities, immersing yourself in the authentic flavours, rural traditions and hospitality of one of the most picturesque villages in the Pavese Apennines.

An event that celebrates the bond between the local area, culture and cuisine, keeping alive one of the most iconic recipes of the Oltrepò Pavese region.
