Polta Festival 2026
Event description
On 18 July 2026, the village of Pacentro – one of the most charming in Abruzzo – will host the 22nd Polta Festival, an event celebrating one of the most iconic dishes of the local culinary tradition. Against the picturesque backdrop of Piazza Umberto I, the community gathers for an evening dedicated to authentic flavours, music and conviviality.
The star of the event is Polta, an ancient speciality of Pacentro’s cuisine prepared according to the traditional recipe and a symbol of the region’s rural culture. Alongside this traditional dish, the food stalls offer a rich menu featuring sausages and zampanelle, local pecorino cheese, excellent local wine and a refreshing dessert made with watermelon, offering visitors an authentic journey through the flavours of the Peligna Valley.
The evening will be accompanied by live music from Yuri Del Signore & Maiella Groove, helping to create a festive atmosphere in the heart of the historic centre. With good food, traditions and entertainment, the Sagra della Polta is the perfect opportunity to experience Pacentro’s hospitality and rediscover the recipes that define the area’s identity.
Now in its 22nd year, the event has become a fixture of the Abruzzo summer, showcasing local cuisine and folk traditions in one of Italy’s most beautiful villages.
