Barga in Cioccolato 2026

On 7 and 8 December 2026, the historic centre of Barga will host the 20th edition of Barga in Cioccolato, the festival dedicated to cocoa which, to mark the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, transforms one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages into a journey of flavours, aromas and Christmas spirit. Having reached the prestigious milestone of its twentieth edition, the event has now become an unmissable occasion for chocolate lovers and for anyone wishing to experience the magic of Christmas in the streets of the Serchio Valley.

For two days, the village’s characteristic shops, squares and alleyways will host artisan chocolate shops, where visitors can sample pralines, chocolate bars, desserts and numerous cocoa-based specialities. Bars and restaurants will be serving chocolate-inspired dishes, whilst along the route there will be no shortage of steaming cups of hot chocolate, perfect for warming up whilst strolling amongst the festive lights and Christmas decorations.

The event isn’t just for those with a sweet tooth, but offers a packed programme of activities for the whole family. Younger children can take part in cocoa workshops, meet the Befana of Barga to hand over their wish list, and be whisked away into the fantastical world of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. The village will also be brought to life by live music, performances and numerous craft and Christmas stalls, all of which will help to create a warm and festive atmosphere.

Strolling through the ancient streets of Barga during the festival offers an experience that combines flavours, traditions and culture. The 2026 edition will take place on Monday 7 December, from 2.00 pm to 7.00 pm, and on Tuesday 8 December, from 10.00 am to 7.00 pm, offering two days of culinary delights and conviviality. Barga in Cioccolato thus reaffirms its status as one of Tuscany’s most eagerly awaited Christmas events, successfully combining artisan excellence, entertainment and the magic of a historic village steeped in the festive spirit.
