MeMu Fest – Medieval Music Festival
Event description
On 17 and 18 July 2026, Giarratana, in the heart of the Iblei Mountains in the province of Ragusa, will once again be immersed in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages with the MeMu Fest – Medieval Music Festival, one of the most original events of the Sicilian summer dedicated to medieval music, historical re-enactment and the promotion of cultural heritage.
For two days, the historic centre of the village is transformed into a vast medieval village, where history, entertainment and traditions intertwine to create an immersive experience for adults and children alike. The streets and squares of Giarratana become the stage for a packed programme featuring medieval music concerts, historical processions, street performers, re-enactments, encampments, dances, workshops and demonstrations of ancient crafts.
The festival attracts historical re-enactment groups, musicians, performers and artists from various regions, offering a journey through the sounds, costumes and traditions of medieval Europe. The musical performances form the heart of the event, guiding visitors along a route featuring travelling shows, entertainment and stage sets that bring to life all the charm of a bygone era.
There is no shortage of areas dedicated to food and wine, where visitors can sample typical products and specialities from the Iblean region, as well as craft markets and exhibition areas showcasing local craftsmanship and ancient traditions.
The MeMu Fest is much more than a simple historical re-enactment: it is an event that showcases Giarratana’s identity through culture, music and the participation of the entire community, offering visitors a unique atmosphere in the heart of Sicily.
With a mix of performances, flavours, history and music, the MeMu Fest – Medieval Music Festival remains one of the most eagerly awaited events of the Ragusa summer, transforming Giarratana into an authentic medieval village for an entire weekend.
