Palma alle Armi 2026

From 4 to 6 September 2026, Palmanova will once again be transformed into an extraordinary 17th-century fortress town with “Palma alle Armi A.D. 1615”, one of Europe’s largest and most spectacular historical re-enactments dedicated to 17th-century living history.

Over 1,200 re-enactors from across Europe will bring the famous star-shaped fortress to life with military encampments, armed patrols, sword duels, drums, flag-wavers and large-scale open-field battles fought with pikes, muskets and cannons. An authentic journey through time that allows visitors to immerse themselves in the military and civilian life of the Republic of Venice.

During the event, the historic centre and the city’s ramparts are transformed into a vast open-air historical theatre, featuring Renaissance-style sets, historical markets, demonstrations of ancient crafts and spectacular fire displays. There are also exhibitions dedicated to reproductions of 17th-century bladed weapons and firearms, as well as guided tours of the Fortress and the historic underground tunnels.

There is also a strong focus on families and children, with dedicated activities, historical games, treasure hunts and the evocative “Labirinto del Leone” (Lion’s Maze), designed to bring history to life in an engaging and entertaining way.

The taverns set up in Piazza Grande and throughout the villages serve dishes inspired by historical cuisine, creating an authentic atmosphere that blends culture, tradition and conviviality.

“Palma alle Armi” is now much more than a simple re-enactment: it is a major international cultural event that celebrates the history, identity and heritage of the fortified town of Palmanova, offering a unique, immersive experience.
