Festival Carpino in Folk 2026
Event description
The Festival Carpino in Folk is one of Italy’s most iconic events dedicated to folk music, an occasion that transforms the village of Carpino into an open-air stage where tradition, culture and musical influences come together. The 2026 edition takes place from 6 to 10 August and has an evocative theme: “Pensiero Meridiano – slowness, dialogue, the Mediterranean”.
In the authentic heart of the Gargano, the festival stems from a profound idea: to slow down, listen, and rediscover the value of time and relationships. Inspired by the thinking of sociologist Franco Cassano, the event invites us to view the world from the South, not as a limitation but as an opening, through music and the meeting of cultures.
Carpino, long considered the home of folk music, is the ideal setting for this journey. It is here that the legendary Cantori di Carpino were born, guardians of an oral tradition comprising sunettë, tarantellas and melodies passed down from generation to generation. Their voices, accompanied by battente guitars, drums and castagnole, recount ancient stories that still resonate vividly in the village squares today.
During the festival, these deep-rooted traditions intertwine with new sounds and contemporary visions. Concerts, cultural events, performances and moments of reflection bring the days and evenings to life, transforming the village into a place of dialogue and shared experience. Music becomes a universal language, capable of uniting different people, experiences and traditions.
The squares of Carpino fill with sounds, dances and lights, creating an intense and immersive atmosphere, where the audience is not merely a spectator but an active part of a great collective celebration. It is an event that goes beyond the concert, becoming a cultural and human experience.
The Festival Carpino in Folk is therefore much more than a music festival: it is a journey into the soul of the South, an invitation to rediscover the value of taking time, of listening and of one’s roots, in one of the most authentic places in Puglia.
