About this tour

Departure from Bari at 08:30 for a full day exploring three true gems of the Itria Valley, taking in the sea, historic villages and the iconic rural landscapes of Puglia.

The first stop is Polignano a Mare, a charming coastal village known for its cliffs overlooking the Adriatic Sea and its crystal-clear waters. The historic centre, with its white alleyways, stone arches and flower-filled balconies, offers views of iconic sights such as the famous Lama Monachile. A stop of around 2 hours is planned here to explore the village at your leisure.

We then continue towards Ostuni, the famous White City, perched on a hill and surrounded by centuries-old olive groves. Its historic centre is a charming labyrinth of narrow streets, stairways and panoramic terraces, characterised by its typical whitewashed houses. You’ll have around 2 hours and 30 minutes of free time, ideal for a lunch break and to sample the local cuisine.

The final stop is Locorotondo, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages, famous for its circular historic centre, white houses decorated with flowers and the characteristic ‘cummerse’, the traditional sloping stone roofs. The village offers splendid views over vineyards and olive groves, home to renowned white wines. The visit includes a stop of approximately 2 hours.

At the end of the day, return to Bari with arrival scheduled for 18:30 (passing through Polignano around 18:00)

Itinerary

1. Polignano a Mare – The Pearl of the Adriatic The first stop is Polignano a Mare, a spectacular coastal village perched on high cliffs overlooking the sea. Famous for its crystal-clear waters and the picturesque Lama Monachile beach, Polignano charms visitors with its historic centre of white-washed narrow streets, stone arches and flower-filled balconies. The birthplace of Domenico Modugno, Polignano retains traces of Arab, Byzantine, Norman and Spanish rule, still visible today in the remains of the ancient fortifications. ⏱ Free time: approx. 2 hours
2. Ostuni – The White City We continue to Ostuni, one of Puglia’s most iconic villages, perched on a hill with a view stretching from centuries-old olive groves to the Adriatic Sea. The historic centre is a charming maze of narrow streets, stairways and small squares, characterised by the typical whitewashed houses. Don’t miss the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, a Romanesque-Gothic masterpiece featuring one of the largest rose windows in Europe, and the lively Piazza della Libertà, the beating heart of the town. During the stop, you’ll have time to stroll around, take photographs and sample typical Apulian dishes. ⏱ Free time: approx. 2 hours 30 minutes
3. Locorotondo – One of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages The final stop on the tour is Locorotondo, recognised as one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages and awarded the Orange Flag by the Italian Touring Club. Its circular historic centre is a little gem of architectural harmony: white houses, narrow streets paved with local stone (‘chianche’), elegant doorways and balconies overflowing with flowers. A distinctive feature are the ‘cummerse’, traditional dwellings with sloping limestone roofs, now often converted into stylish boutique hotels. The village offers splendid views over vineyards and olive groves, a land renowned for its white wines. ⏱ Free time: approx. 2 hours Return to Bari At the end of the day, return to Bari with arrival scheduled for 18:30 (passing through Polignano around 18:00), after an experience rich in landscapes, history and Apulian authenticity.
