The only island on Lake Como, appreciated for its lush nature and splendid views, Isola Comacina is also one of the most interesting archaeological sites in northern Italy for the Early Middle Ages and a centre of artistic production thanks to the summer residences of Italian and Belgian artists in the rationalist-style artists’ houses.

About 600 metres long and only 200 metres wide, Isola Comacina covers a total area of 6 hectares, mostly covered by lush Mediterranean vegetation. Access to the island is by lake, with embarkation at Ossuccio (taxi-boat) or by means of the Navigazione Lago di Como service, which allows you to disembark directly on the island.
