Torre Paola is a defensive coastal tower located on the Circeo Promontory bordering the long beach of Sabaudia, built between the end of the fifteenth century and the beginning of the sixteenth century. Together with Torre Fico, it was the first and to be built.
During its construction, the Saracens, coming down from the mountain to catch the garrison by surprise, attacked the tower. Subsequently, to prevent future incursions from the cliff, the original structure of the tower was modified, giving it the particular tortoise structure with a defensive structure on the mountain side.
