National Archaeological Museum of Sarsina

National Archaeological Museum of Sarsina

The National Archaeological Museum of Sarsina, constituted in 1890, collects all the materials coming from the excavations carried out in the necropolis of Pian di Bezzo, near Sarsina, and in the urban area, allowing a complete reading of the history of the Roman Municipality, of Umbrian origin, from the IV-III century B.C. to the II-III century A.D. The recent and radical restructuring has allowed the recomposition integral of some large funerary monuments, among which for grandeur and completeness stands out the mausoleum to the cuspid newsstand Rufus, dating back to the end of the I century A.D. by the report are also valuable mosaic pavements and polychrome sculpture exhibits depicting oriental gods.
