Apricus Locanda is a small boutique hotel in Apricale, one of Italy’s most beautiful villages. When Apricale began attracting tourists a decade ago, the Dutch owner bought a ruin in 2003 and transformed it after extensive and careful renovation into a small hotel of five rooms, tastefully decorated with works by Danielle Noel, an artist and organizer of exhibitions at the Lizard Castle.
All of the bright rooms have panoramic views of the valley, where owls can be heard at night. French doors open to the garden, and three rooms have balconies where our guests can sit, relax, and enjoy the view.
During winter days breakfast is served in our breakfast room with a lit fireplace, but most of the time our guests are welcomed on the terrace. Breakfast is a small feast of fresh fruit, yogurt, fresh bread, croissants, cheese and cold cuts. The honey and jams are exclusively produced for Apricus by friends in the village and are of extraordinary quality. In warm weather, you can enjoy healthy relaxation on the terrace where there is also a small pool, while a lit fireplace awaits you in winter.
The success of Apricus encouraged us to renovate some houses near the inn to create an even more intimate and private environment for our guests. Upon request, the services provided by the inn such as breakfast buffet and swimming pool are also available to guests of our houses. Hills with olive trees, rivers and streams, medieval villages where time has stood still. This is what our area has to offer.
Unspoiled nature, absolute silence (welcome a concert of frogs now and then). But on the other hand, the Mediterranean and the glamour of the Riviera and Cote d’Azur are close by. Good simple, homemade food in hillside restaurants or fresh seafood dishes by the sea. We think diversity is one of the best features of this area.
