Nelle acque di Framura

Framura is a hidden jewel of the Riviera Ligure di Levante, a village unique for its scattered layout, where five small hamlets-Castagnola, Costa, Setta, Ravecca, and Anzo-lay on a steep natural staircase that descends from the hills to the sea. This Ligurian municipality, with just over 600 inhabitants, is located in a privileged position between Deiva Marina and Bonassola, a short distance from Cinque Terre and the renowned Portofino.

Framura's origins go back to Roman times, when the area was home to a pagus, and as early as the Lombard period the territory was under the influence of the abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio. Its history can still be read today in architectural traces: such as the 9th-century Carolingian tower in the hamlet of Costa, the two 15th-century Genoese watchtowers in Anzo and Setta, or the medieval walls of green Levanto stone that characterize Setta.

Starting from the highest village, Castagnola, one encounters the parish church of San Lorenzo, which houses the "Deposition" by Luca Cambiaso, a famous Mannerist painter. Descending toward Costa, you can admire the sturdy Carolingian tower and the Pieve di San Martino with a work by Bernardo Strozzi, a great exponent of Genoese Baroque. Further down, Setta is the seat of the municipality and is striking for its medieval architecture; Ravecca retains the charm of an authentic medieval layout; and finally Anzo, the hamlet closest to the sea, is dominated by the watchtower and the neo-Gothic chapel of Nostra Signora della Neve.

Framura offers spectacular views: its five hamlets overlook a clear, deep sea, awarded the Blue Flag several times for water quality. The hidden coves, the red cliffs that light up at sunset, the tiny harbor below Anzo, and the seabed full of shipwrecks attract divers and scuba enthusiasts. It is a place for those who love the wild sea, snorkeling, kayaking and walking along the rocky coast.

Framura has no real center, but is a mosaic of hamlets nestled in the Mediterranean bush, among vineyards, pine forests, and old marble quarries. Its authentic atmosphere, far from crowded beaches, makes it an ideal retreat for those seeking contact with nature and the unspoiled beauty of Liguria. Here, the sea breeze mixes with the scent of saltiness and the quiet greenery offers a perfect balance of relaxation, tradition and breathtaking scenery. Framura is an experience to be lived slowly, step by step, to discover secret corners and glimpses of rare beauty, suspended between sky, sea and history.
