Located in Fiavè, a small gem set in the green of the outer Giudicarie Valleys, half way between the villages of Rango and Canale, Fontanèl is the ideal place for lovers of good food, nature lovers and animal friends. Matter of “prospects”
Inside the dairy shop it is easy to watch the milk being processed, through the window overlooking the laboratory. Here, the expert hands of the cheesemaker transform an excellent raw material into butter, ricotta, yogurt and cheese for all palates. Choose between different tasting proposals, which can be consumed inside the shop or outside, on the veranda from which you can enjoy a magnificent panorama.
Tastings and guided tours
Whether you are on holiday with your family, passing by on a motorcycle or on a hike, Fontanèl can become the ideal place for an alternative lunch or a tasty snack: choose from our tasting proposals to chop what you prefer, also in accompaniment to a good glass of wine, concluding everything with a fresh and natural yogurt.It is possible to take part in guided tours of the company, to discover and experience all the phases of our work, from the care of the animals to the production and sale of the products. Advance booking is recommended for large and / or organized groups.
Our products
We produce a dozen types of whole milk cheese, to enhance the organoleptic characteristics of our milk.The Crescenza and the Formaggella Piumata (cheese with a flowery rind) are made with pasteurized milk, while the Caciotta Fontanèl is made with raw milk. Blue Fiavè, our blue cheese, is highly sought after and won the 2015 Medusa Award from the Sapientia Mundi Academic Foundation of Rome. Then we produce two washed cheeses: Fontinèl, Fontina type, and Rettàngol, excellent to be cooked on the plate or in a pan. Our spearhead is the “Formai del Cadria”, which represents the genuineness of our milk supply chain and contains all the hints of our hay. We then have a medium-sized cheese, Monte Misone, also available in a flavored version with nuts, herbs, pepper or chilli. Then there are ricotta and yogurt to satisfy the palates of children.
