Church of the Holy Christ’s Body

The Church of the Holy Christ’s Body in Valvasone houses the relics of the sacred cloth that, according to the tradition, is the corporal stained with blood as a result of the eucharistic miracle occurred in 1294 in the nearby Gruaro. The church was built during the XV century but underwent a complete renovation in the neogothic style between the end of the nineteenth century and the beginning of the Twentieth Century.

The artistic jewel of the church is the organ dating back to 1532 by th the Venetian Vincenzo Colombo, the last specimen of the great Venetian school of the Sixteenth Century. In the church there is also the altarpiece of St. Catherine’s mystical wedding by Giulio Quaglio the young of 1701, placed on the homonymous altar in baroque style attributed to Francesco Cabianca.
