The Church of San Lorenzo Martire in Sauris bears witness to the long religious tradition of the village of Sauris di Sopra. The presence of a place of worship in this location is documented as early as 1328, while the current structure was rebuilt in the 16th century in Gothic style.
The church houses important works of sacred art. Among these, the Baroque marble altar stands out, enriched with statues of Saints Joseph and Lawrence. Also of particular interest is the altar of Our Lady of the Rosary, created in the 17th century by Girolamo Comuzzo: unfortunately, the original statues were stolen over time.
Finally, one of the most valuable works is the Flügelaltar, a wooden altar with doors carved in 1551 by Michele Parth, a significant example of sacred art in the Alpine area.
