Realm of Valcasotto

The Realm of Valcasotto, near the village of Garessio, is situated on the slopes of the Bric Mindino, at 1,090 meters of altitude. It was born in the XI century as certosa dedicated to Saint Brunone. In the course of the centuries it underwent several looting and fires which modified its structure.

In 1803 after the descent in Italy of the Napoleonic troops who, to occupy the building it damaged so important to the rear part, the Carthusian Order was dissolved and the property sold to a private, to pass in 1837 among the residences of the house of Savoy, bought by Carlo Alberto, which utilized the palace as a royal residence in summer and his son Vittorio Emanuele II stayed there during different hunting. The Venaria Reale of Valcasotto was sold in 1881 by King Umberto I in private.

The complex remain the central body and the two lateral wings (inside of which we find different halls, the kitchen and the chapel) surrounding the courtyard porch that overlooks the river, the rear today remain only some tracks.
