“De acqua nera”, perhaps for the dark color of the water flowing forth just below the church. The terracotta statue of the Virgin with the Child, desired by the abbot Antonio Pines in 1518, is signed by Antonio Duranti and today is placed in a niche above the altar maggore. The entire wall has been commissioned to the painter by count Giulio of the door on the occasion of her marriage (1577) with Francesca di Carpegna.
