The museum includes works of art and historical furnishings related to the Campeggi and Malvezzi families who, from the 16th century until 1960, lived in the fortress of Dozza. The complex presents itself as a house-museum which offers a visit organized on three routes: the medieval and renaissance fortress, the Renaissance residence, the eighteenth-century residence.
The Museum also includes collections of contemporary art relating to the Biennale of the Painted Wall, as it houses the sketches, the archival and bibliographic documents belonging to the Study and Documentation Center of the Painted Wall.
