The first news of the church of San Michele dating back to the XII century. The building was built near the castle lucchese di Castiglione Garfagnana, following the political growth and population of the homonymous hamlet. At this stage belongs to the structure of the building that has been preserved until today, with a Latin cross plan and has a single nave with a semicircular apse. The facade has a rich decoration obtained through the duotone of construction materials.
